Katrina Relief Flutes
Here's our Commander in Chief visiting the Gulf Coast after Katrina hit. This photo was sent to me from my friend and former band mate, Ken holt, who lived in New Orleans. The Yahoo captions reads,
"President Bush presented with a guitar by Country singer Mark Willis following his visit to Naval base Coronado..."

I have been moved to tears more than a few times in the past few weeks since Katrina hit. The Gulf Coast has a lot of history for me as I spent a some formative teenage years living in Texarkana, Texas. We would drive to Shreveport, LA to see rock concerts at least once a month. I actually saw the Rolling Stones at the Superdome in New Orleans in1978. And since that experience, New Orleans has had a special place in my heart. I remember staying at the Hyatt overlooking the Missisippi River. The Doobie Brothers openned for the Stones and they said how much they loved that black water before they kicked off the famous hit, "Oh Black Water". Then over 24 years later, in 2002, I was in New Orleans for the National Performance Network's conference where my theater group SLANT, was booked as a mainstage production. Again, I fell under the spell of New Orleans; the people, the music, the food, all grooving on the same spirited vibe. I enjoyed playing the shakuhachi into the thick night air of Bourbon Street.
I've been putting up shakuhachi for Katrina Relief Donations to the Red Cross. Some of the auctions are 100% donated. Please take a look at the auctions I have up this week if you would like to help me make a donation.
I would liketo help our Commander raise some funds for this major calamity.
