Another One Leaves Home

I just finished work on this 2.8 commission. It took about 8 months more or less.

It was made from a piece of "Gome" Chinese Madake that was specially harvested for me in Shanghai, China over four years ago. There are great markings and mottling all over the bamboo from having died iand cured in the ground

Hear the scale.

The inlay is done in the Kinya Sogawa style after my teacher, Kinya, who generously taught me much about Dokyoku style Honkyoku and how to make Jinashi shakuhachi to play this type of music.

The sound samples were recorded on my laptop mic so the timbres are not as wide as they are in real life. This will just give you an idea on the sound and response in playability. Hear an excerpt from Choshi.

The saddest part is always the day of shipping. I only hope that the owner gets to know the flute better than I.

Have a great new year everyone, breath deeper and spread the positive vibes,
Namaste -
Perry
