Today's Shakuhachi Availbility

Here are some photos of what I presently have in my Japanese collection available to the public. I am really posting this entry because I lost the email address and contact for the person who inquired about them. So if you are the guy who contacted me last week. Sorry for the dely. Your info got thrown into the wash.

Five 1.8 modern Japanese made Jiari shakuhachi. They are number 1 - 5 from bottom to top for discussion. Number 1 is about 70 years old judging from the rattan wrap and angles of the utaguchi.

Each one completely playable to the standards of the modern shakuhachi. And, since they are handtuned, each produces it's own unique voice. I retuned flute numbers 1 and 2. Flutes 1, 2, 3 and 5 had cracks but have been repaired with monofilamnet nylon bindings.

Each a beauty itself.

All of the joints have been refurbished and tightened with Japanese urushi lacquer.

From left to right, Kyo San, unknown to me, Seika (Kitahara), Seika and unknown. Flute number 4 has three hankos. One of the maker and two of his brother who is a famous shakuhachi player. This commonly done to suggest that this is a superior flute.

Inquiries welcomed. Namaste, Perry
