This is a non root end 2.8 EARTH Model bass shakuhachi pitched in F#. It is a fat piece of Chinese Madake bamboo that was harvested specially for me in Zhejiang China in 2001. Because of it’s length, it is made for the taller player with medium to large hands. This instrument is a great example of a fully functional, wide bore Jinashi style bass shakuhachi.

My Earth Models can play a variety of music but this particular flute can also be the right flute for the sensitive, meditative player. A gentle focused air stream will produce a warm vibration and a stronger experienced breath will produce a gentle buzzing overtone. As with all wode bore flutes, the lower octave is wide and penetrating and the top of the second register is a little thinner. But all the fingerings for shakuhachi music works relatively well. A flute with this playability would normally start at $280 but there are two very fine superifical hairline cracks on the surface. They ahve been fully stabilized and do not affect the palyability what so ever. Please see the picture belwo. Once may even miss them if they werento lookingfor them. As a result, I am pofferinng thsi flute at a super pricve. I am also trying to do my part to help the economy so I am including the full YUNG FLUTES kit for free.
